Craig Christopher and Bentley, Derek 


Derek Bentley, aged 19, and Christopher Craig, aged 16, were found guilty of the murder of policeman Sidney Miles on the roof of a warehouse after a bungled robbery. Craig was carrying a .45 revolver. A police witness stated that Bentley was heard to shout ‘let him have it Chris’ just before Craig fired  nine shots. Bentley claimed  he had meant Craig to give the police the gun. This was not accepted by the jury. Derek Bentley was hung and Christopher Craig, because he was a minor, was detained at Her Majesty’s pleasure.
